IMAGINE!  “Blighted” Jensen?

A vision of “redevelopment” by concerned 'activists' began in 1986 .Subsequently; the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) was formed to “revitalize”  “BLIGHTED” areas of Martin County.

Jensen Beach was the first “BLIGHTED” area approved. “If” past Commissioners never imagined in twenty years that "commercial street” would be FIVE lanes and US1 TWELVE Lanes….then how  could they possibly have imagined a  Target, Wal-mart, Treasure Coast Mall, HomeDepot,, BJ'S, CircuitCity, BestBuy, RoomsToGo, OliveGarden, etc. etc .etc. …. IMAGINE all NORTH of the Roosevelt Bridge!!!!

“JB” Neighborhood Advisory Committee{NAC} recommended to Board of County Commissioners  that zoning in downtown and surrounding areas be “two” stories.  This sensible advice seems to have been ignored. By frivolously applying zoning overlay, any zoning can be superseded. Renar River Place is now able to build “three” stories and no stop is in sight for future developments.

Past commissioners who approved the original CRA for Jensen are not our present commissioners. HOWEVER, in 2006, with hindsight and retrospect, Commissioners easily can see how “wrong” this decision was.

This decision now forces Jensenites to see the beginnings of a negative transition from Downtown towards “Renar River Place” and the causeway!!!!!!  “Jensenites” know their village will turn into a three story 'fake' community with no heritage or legacy.  A bunch of mixed use apartments and shops that no one will ever use and which will eventually be vacant; truly giving birth to a  "BLIGHTED” and empty downtown Jensen!!!!

Everyone has a right to develop their properties; however, Board of County Commissioners should not be listening to the developers but rather to the voters and taxpayers; helping us to protect us and our precious treasure.

“Zoning overlay” must be re-addressed and examined before building begins!!!!!!  We need more people and voices.  WEAR YOUR GREEN T-SHIRTS EVERYWHERE!!!!
